Where to Celebrate New Year’s Eve in San Rafael
It’s never too early start thinking about your New Year’s plans. If you are planning to stay in the San Rafael area, there are plenty of fun options awaiting you. These events have something for everyone.
New Year’s Eve Sunset Sail on San Fransisco Bay
Start your year-end festivities with one last 2018 sunset, and take in the glistening rays reflecting off the bay from the deck of the Schooner Freda B. Prepare for a night of fun while enjoying nature’s beauty as you sail around the bay. After you board in Sascillito, you’ll sail around Angel Island, the Golden Gate Bridge, and many other iconic sites.
Keep in mind, cameras are welcome, but outside drinks are not. There is a cash-only bar on deck for you to enjoy your favorite beverage. This event starts at 3:45 in the afternoon and ends at 6:00 p.m. just after sunset. Tickets for this cruise range between $69 and $79. There is one dress code tip to keep in mind: high heels are not allowed on board.
Diamonds are Forever
Travel to San Fransisco for the adults-only Diamonds are Forever celebration. The Russian Center of San Fransisco hosts this gala, and you must be 21 or older to attend. This celebration is quite formal, and guests should dress accordingly. Gentlemen are required to wear either black or white attire, and ladies must wear long ball gowns.
Tickets for this event are on sale now for between $135 and $1,500. They are not available at the door. This event starts at 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve and ends at 1:30 a.m. New Year’s Day.
NYE Midnight Kiss Fireworks Cruise
This event is the perfect way to end the year with the one you love. The cruise takes place aboard the Pinot Noir yacht, which sets sail out of Alameda. Your ticket gives you access to a four-hour hosted bar, music to keep you moving, and a fantastic view of the fireworks.
You can explore the two-story yacht’s decks or enjoy the panoramic views from the inside. Keep in mind that the dress code for this event is semi-formal. You can take advantage of free parking at 7:45 p.m. and boarding begins at 8:30 p.m. The yacht will set sail at 9 p.m. New Year’s Eve and will disembark again at 1:15 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
Stay in San Rafael and ring in the new year at George’s Nightclub. Because this event doesn’t start until 9 p.m., you can stay home to see the ball drop in New York City with your kids before heading out to celebrate. At the club, they offer a full bar along with a full menu. Don’t drink and drive, and make sure you have a safe ride home after the festivities are over.
Wherever you choose to celebrate the new year, be safe. Make sure you bring along a designated driver or have one waiting for you. Happy New Year!
